Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using DocAssessment, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use our service.
Description of Service
DocAssessment provides document analysis services that:
- Extract information from uploaded documents
- Identify potential risks based on common patterns
- Compare document terms against typical industry standards
- Provide plain-language explanations of extracted information
Important: DocAssessment is an information tool, not a legal service.
Not Legal Advice
The service is not legal advice. You should consult an attorney for advice on your specific situation. DocAssessment does not create an attorney-client relationship. Analysis results appear as informational summaries only and may not reflect all relevant legal considerations for your specific circumstances.
Your Responsibilities
You agree to:
- Only upload documents you have the right to analyze
- Not use the service for unlawful purposes
- Consult an attorney before making legal decisions
- Review all documents carefully before signing
- Not rely solely on automated analysis for important decisions
Account Terms
If you create an account, you are responsible for:
- Maintaining the security of your password
- All activities that occur under your account
- Notifying us of unauthorized access
You may also use the service without creating an account, with the same two-tier retention policy (24-hour source / 30-day report).
Payment Terms
For paid services:
- Fees are displayed before payment
- We use PayPal for payment processing
- Credits are non-refundable but never expire
- Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis
Document Retention
By default, source documents are deleted from cloud storage within 24 hours of upload, and the structured analysis is removed at 30 days. This protects your privacy and is a core feature of our service. You may delete your report manually at any time.
Disclaimer of Warranties
The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee:
- Perfect accuracy of extracted information
- Complete detection of all risks or clauses
- Uninterrupted or error-free service
- That results are appropriate for your specific situation
Limitation of Liability
DocAssessment and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of the service.
Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the service for violation of these terms or for any other reason at our sole discretion.
Changes to Terms
We may modify these terms at any time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
Governing Law
These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Ontario, Canada for the resolution of any dispute arising from these terms. Nothing in this section limits any non-waivable right you may have to bring a qualifying claim in the small-claims court of your local jurisdiction where applicable law permits.
